Abstract

During the lockdown due to the infection of COVID-19 in 2020-21, the number of drop-outs from schools in West Bengal has increased. Because of lockdown, schools were closed and the studies of economically weaker sections of the society were badly affected. In order to combat the situation, Radio JU 90.8MHz in collaboration with West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights started a radio school programme named ‘Sahaj Path’ for the street children of Jadavpur and its peripheral areas. This article attempts to understand the model in which this radio school operates. Apart from that, by assessing the impact of the programme, this article has tried to identify the drawbacks of the programme as well as tried to provide a roadmap for improvements in radio school initiatives for the future.
